Kent captain James Tredwell has been named in England's Performance Squad for the summer international series against New Zealand and Australia.

The 31-year-old off-spinner - who is beginning his first season at the helm - is named alongside Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann in the 30-man party, which will be whittled down before the Test and ODI series.

Tredwell (pictured), from New Romney, spent much of the winter on duty with England in India and New Zealand, only returning last week.

He was called up after Swann was ruled-out by surgery on an elbow problem, but has been limited to a back-up role behind Panesar.

Swann, 33, has targeted a return ahead of the opening Test of back-to-back Ashes series at Trent Bridge on July 10 following surgery in the USA.

Do you think Tredwell should be above Panesar or Swann in the England pecking order? Have your say below.
