James Hockley on his way to 55 for Kent against Northants Picture: Barry Goodwin
An inexperienced Kent side rounded off their NatWest Pro40 League Division 2 campaign with a heavy defeat at home to Northamptonshire on Sunday.
Rookie bowlers Phil Edwards and Matt Coles were put to the sword as the visitors reached 244-6 from 40 overs at Canterbury.
Former Kent wicket-keeper Niall O'Brien top-scored for Northans with 72 from 52 balls while part-timer James Hockley was the pick of the bowling with 2-32 from eight overs.
Kent lost four quick wickets in reply to leave them 58-4. Hockley (55) led a recovery with Azhar Mahmood but when the former was dismissed by Nicky Boje, Kent quickly subsided from 103-5 to 145 all out inside 32 overs.
