Parts of Kent hit by thunder and lightning, including Sittingbourne and Medway

Parts of Kent were hit by huge bolts of lightning last night.

Pictures shared by one Sittingbourne resident showed the sky lit up above the town by a tremendous flash.

Adam Milgate tweeted photos of the wild weather and said: “Who let Thor out?”

But it’s not just Sittingbourne facing the wrath of the god of thunder.

According to lightningmaps.org, Medway was also hit by lightning.

Posting on Facebook this afternoon, Kent Storm Chasers said: “Could be some thunder and lightning before the day is out here in Kent as instability builds behind the rain and heavy showers develop from the west.”
