Kent is set to sizzle today - after notching up temperatures hotter than Hawaii this week.

Forecasters now predict a glorious day today - and into the weekend.

So, with the mercury likely to hit the high 20s, why not help us build up a unique weather map of Kent - via your dashboard?

So why are we basking in the unseasonal heat?

Met Forecaster Helen Chivers said: "The heat's all come from the continent and the western part of the Mediterranean.

"It's been brought to us on warm southerly winds, all thanks to an area of high pressure that's been centred over Europe since about Monday of this week."

But it might be best to make the most of the sunshine while it lasts temperatures are set to drop again next week.

Ms Chivers added: "The sunny weather is only really with us for the weekend.

"We might still have some sunshine around on Monday but there'll be a lot more cloud around then too and by the time we get to Tuesday, we'll have some brisk westerly winds, probably some showers coming through as well and temperatures back to normal."

Initially snow had been predicted for October too, but it now looks like the weather could stay fine for the rest of the month.

The Forecaster concluded: "Southern parts of England are well favoured to keep fine weather a lot of the time, so while we'll see some showers there will be fine weather around.

"As for snow there's a possibility you might see a dusting over the Scottish Highlands but I don't think we'll see any in Kent."
