Kent man in court on drug smuggling charges

A Kent man has been remanded in custody on drug smuggling charges after 100kg of cocaine worth an estimated £5million was seized.

Douglas Wood, 58, from Sandwich Bay, appeared before Greenwich Magistrates' Court with 52-year-old David Coxon, from Jarrow in Newcastle.

Both men were arrested on a yacht off Cornwall on Friday. It is believed the vessel was bound from the Caribbean to London.

They will appear in court again on September 22.
