Mike Powell prepares to face his former Glamorgan team-mates for the first time this week intent on treating it like any other game.

Powell (pictured), 34, says he has settled in well since swapping Cardiff for Canterbury and speaking ahead of the game against his old county which begins on Thursday, he said: "They will all be good friends but I still hope to score as many runs as I can.

"This is a beautiful part of the world. I live in a flat on the ground and we have a good set of lads who have all created a special dressing room environment."

Kent are looking for a return to Division 1 but Powell says the P word hasn’t been mentioned.

He added: "It is so tough at the top and we are one of five teams who are in contention.

"There has not been a conversation about promotion, it is all about who we are playing next, with Jimmy Adams and Rob Key putting plans together for the side."
