Oad Street link to Stockbury Roundabout at Junction 5 of the M2 to reopen on Monday

The delayed reopening of a key link at the Stockbury Roundabout will take place on Monday morning, highways chiefs have confirmed.

The junction off the M2, for Maidstone and Sittingbourne, is currently undergoing major work for the multi-million pound Stockbury flyover project.

Now it has been confirmed the Oad Street link will reopen at 6am on Monday. It had been delayed due to bad weather.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: “The new, upgraded road will join the roundabout directly, rather than the A249 southbound providing a safer route for traffic entering or exiting Oad Street.”

Ahead of the Easter weekend, both the A249 southbound (towards Maidstone) reopened as did the M2 London-bound slip.

National Highways added: “Over the last five weeks, we’ve made huge progress on the southern section of our scheme, this includes the new A249 carriageways, and M2 London-bound off slip.

“We’ve also started on the new South Green link road, which will connect South Green Lane to the Stockbury Roundabout.”
