Knife robbers steal teenager's mobile phone

AN 18-year-old Tonbridge man was robbed at knifepoint in Doric Avenue, Southborough, after returning to his car having attended a dental appointment. He was approached by two youths and a girl who demanded to know if he had a wallet or a mobile phone.

When he said no, one of the youths pulled out a combat-style knife with a black handle and long serrated-edged blade and threatened him with it, forcing him to hand over his mobile phone worth £150. The group then ran off.

Police have issued descriptions of three suspects they wish to talk to about the incident, which happened on Thursday between 4.45 and 4.50pm. Both males were aged about 18 or 19. The first is 5ft 8ins tall, thinly built with brown hair. He was wearing a white baseball cap, blue bomber jacket, beige trousers and trainers.

The second male is 5ft 6ins tall, again thinly built but with black hair. He wore a beige or white jacket, blue tracksuit bottoms and Reebok trainers.

The girl is 5ft 8ins tall and had very long ginger hair worn in a pony tail. She was slim and wore a black jumper, beige trousers and trainers.

Insp Peter Williams, said: "We're hoping someone will come forward with information to help us progress this inquiry. At that time of day it is likely there would have been other people in the area and they may be able to help us. We want to find these criminals as quickly as possible."
