Ashford's Leon Camier increased his grip on this year's British Superbike Championship with his seventh and eighth wins of the season at Snetterton on Sunday.

The Yamaha Airwaves rider had to do it the hard way, though. Starting race one from pole position, Camier dropped down the field after a poor opening lap before the race was stopped to clear oil from the track. Forced to restart in ninth, he battled through the field to snatch the lead from Hydrex Honda's Stuart Easton with five laps to go.

In race two Camier and team-mate James Ellison went head-to-head after forcing their way up the order. The Kent man had the edge to win by three seconds.

Camier said: "The first race was one of the hardest, but also one of the most fun races I can remember.

"My start wasn't too bad for a change but I fell back at the first corner. It was so difficult to overtake because we really struggled on the straights.

Thankfully the Airwaves Yamaha worked fantastic around the corners. In race two the bike felt awesome. It was fun racing so close to James and I'm pleased we achieved another one-two for the Airwaves Yamaha team."

Camier leads the standings on 217 points with Ellison 55 behind. The next race is at Knockhill, Scotland, on July 5.
