Let’s meet up and share our ideas

Sharing ideas and working together is the aim of a new networking group aimed at people in the media, arts and creative industries.

The people behind One Degree East are keen to tap into the buzz around social media sites like Twitter and Facebook in Whitstable and the wider east Kent area to bring together those working in advertising, journalism, public relations, design and digital.

Organiser Neil Webster, the KM Group’s commercial director, said: “We think there are several hundred people in east Kent working hard in this sort of industry, many of whom have moved to the area for its fantastic quality of life.

"This is an opportunity to meet up, match skills to opportunities and encourage people to work together.”

The group’s name refers to the fact that Whitstable, Margate, Folkestone and Broadstairs are one degree east of the Greenwich meridian.

The next meeting will take place at 6.30pm on Thursday July 18 at the Prince Albert pub, Sea Street, Whitstable. More information, contact the group on Twitter @onedegreeeast
