Officers seized an airgun and a crossbow from a house in The Street in Lynsted at 11am today after a firearms warrant was issued.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of discharging a firearm in a public place but was released hours later with a caution for the offence.

He voluntarily handed over the air rifle to Kent Police.

The warrant was issued following an incident in Claxfield Road, Lynsted, last Saturday in which a target in a field was shot at with an air rifle without the farmer's permission.
