A man has been charged in connection with the deaths of 39 Vietnamese people in Essex.
A 27-year-old man was detained just outside Milan today by Italian authorities and officers from the National Crime Agency.
The Crown Prosecution Service sought approval of an international arrest warrant on behalf of Essex Police.
The warrant was granted and Dragos Damian was arrested today.
He has been charged with conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration and encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence.
A murder investigation was launched after 39 bodies were found inside a lorry container near the Dartford Crossing in October 2019.
