Man hurt as trucks and van collide on M26

THE west-bound carriageway of the M26 was closed for 90 minutes today after a collision involving two lorries and a Mercedes Sprinter van.

Police say a man was injured in the incident that happened at about 8.55am closing both lanes to Surrey-bound traffic. Police stopped cars from entering the motorway from the M20 at junction 3 while rescue work was carried out.

At one stage, the east-bound carriageway of the M26 was also closed to enable the Kent Air Ambulance to land to airlift the njured man to hospital.

Traffic was re-admitted to the motorway, when one lane was opened at 10.20am. The other lane remained closed awaiting recovery of the HGVs. There were no other reported injuries.
