Man in rail track tragedy

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a man died on a railway line in Kent.

The victim was struck by a train between Gillingham and Rainham stations.

British Transport Police, along with Kent Police colleagues, were called to the scene just just before 1am on Sunday after the alarm was raised by rail operators Network Rail.

A BTP spokesman said: “The incident happened nearer to Gillingham station. A body was found at the scene but the victim has not so far been identified. We are still making efforts to contact the next-of-kin.

“The death appears to be non-suspicious and we will be putting a file together for the coroner.”
