Man killed in Westerham crash named as John Smithers

A man who died in hospital after a crash involving a car and a pick-up truck in Pilgrims Way at Westerham has been identified as John Smithers.

The 67-year-old of Brasted, near Sevenoaks suffered fatal injuries when the green Daewoo Lanos he was driving collided with a silver Ford Ranger pick-up at the crossroads with Westerham Hill at around 6.20am Friday.

He was pronounced dead in hospital at Farnborough.

An inquest into Mr Smithers's death has been opened and adjourned.
