Man killed, two injured at accident black spot

A MAN died and two others were seriously injured today following a two-car collision on the B2016 Seven Mile Lane between Wrotham Heath and Mereworth. The accident happened shortly after 6.30am near the golf course at the Wrotham Heath end of the road.

Police closed the road and are still investigating the incident. The accident involved a K-registered Citroen and a Y-registered Skoda.

A passenger in the Citroen suffered fatal injuries and the driver was seriously hurt. The Skoda driver was critically injured. The casualties were taken by ambulance to Maidstone General Hospital

The accident came just days after another incident on the A228 stretch of the same road, at the junction with Royden Hall Road, in which a man was killed and two were seriously hurt. It happened on Thursday night, November 29, and involved four vehicles. A Renault Five and a Ford Escort collided head on.

The driver of the Renault, from the West Kingsdown area, was killed. A man and woman in the Ford, both from Tunbridge Wells, were injured.

The man, who was driving, suffered multiple thigh fractures and a broken arm. His passenger suffered facial and other injuries.

Both are still detained for treatment at Maidstone General Hospital. Police have appealed for witnesses to either accident to come forward.
