A man was taken to hospital after plunging to the ground from a balcony in Medway.

The 51-year-old, who has not been named, suffered spinal and chest injuries during the fall, thought to be about 24 feet, on St Mary's Island in Chatham Maritime, on Monday, April 18.

The Kent Air Ambulance was scrambled to the scene at around 7.50am and landed on grass nearby while doctors assessed the man's injuries.

He was then taken to King's College Hospital, in London for treatment.
