Two thugs cornered a young man in an alleyway and set him alight as he walked home in Tonbridge.

A police spokesman said the victim, who is in his 20s, was sprayed with an aerosol and a cigarette lighter. He put up his hands to protect his face and felt them burning.

The attack happened in the alleyway that runs alongside Hugh Christie School. The victim had to be treated in hospital for burns.

Local PCSO Linda Baker said: "Some residents have told me they are concerned about incidents of anti-social behaviour in this area."

Anyone with information about the attack - which happened between 10pm and 11pm on Sunday, January 10 - is urged to contact PCSO Baker on 01732 379232 or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
