March 20: Job creation at County Hall

While the job market is shrinking in lots of different sectors, there are some interesting employment openings at the county council. Two in particular have caught my eye.

The first post being advertised is for a Treasury and Investments Manager, on a not indecent salary of between £52,267 and £60,477. This post is linked to the saga of KCC's £50million investment's in Icelandic banks and stems from various recommendations made by consultants who carried out an investigation into events.

Rather unsurprisingly, the advert carefully avoids any mention of Iceland, stating only that KCC wants someone to head its in-house Treasury and Investments Team.

The second post is for an employee engagement manager on a salary of up to £40,000 to “help develop and deliver our engagement strategy”. Would-be candidates are told they will need the skills to “design and deliver employee engagement interventions.”

I'm trying to work out what “employee engagement interventions” might be. If you have any thoughts, let me know.
