Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to free a pilot from a crashed microlight.

The man was taken to hospital in London by air ambulance, suffering from injuries, including those to his head, neck and chest.

The aircraft came down in Shoreham at 11:31am.

Firefighters from Sevenoaks and Seal used hydraulic cutting equipment to rescue a man from the scene in Redmans Lane.

The ambulance and air ambulance were also at the scene.

A passenger was able to get out of the aircraft, and was taken to Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford with minor injuries.

Both pilot and passenger are from Wiltshire, and the aircraft is thought to have been travelling from Wiltshire to Kent, having made a stop in Hampshire.

The Civil Aviation Authority has been notified.
