Margate continued their unbeaten start in the Ryman League Premier Division when they came from behind to beat high-flying Lowestoft Town on Monday.

Tommy Whitnell and Sam Long struck for the Gate in a 2-1 win at Hartsdown Park after Jack Defty had put the Suffolk side in front.

Elsewhere in the division, Mark Willy’s third-minute strike earned Cray Wanderers a 1-1 draw at East Thurrock United. The home side levelled through Reiss Gilbey 10 minutes into the second half.

Stuart King hit a hat-trick as Folkestone Invicta won 3-1 away to Chipstead in Ryman League Division 1 South.

The striker scored twice in seven first-half minutes and completed his treble two minutes from time as Invicta maintained their 100% record with a third straight win.

Herne Bay continued their good form on the road by winning 3-2 at Eastbourne Town.

The East Sussex side struck first but George Landais and James Campbell put Bay in front before Andy Irvine scored what proved to be the winner.

At Reachfields, Hythe Town trailed Burgess Hill Town 2-0 but fought back to snatch a draw.

After Nick Reeves had put through his own net, Ryan McBride doubled Burgess Hill’s lead early in the second half. However, Nick Barnes pulled a goal back almost immediately and Craig Thompson equalised on 75 minutes.

The league table suddenly makes better reading for Faversham Town after they picked up their first win of the season at Tooting & Mitcham United.

Ray Turner’s side won 2-1 in south London, with Ashley Brown and Adrian Stone on the scoresheet.

However, Maidstone United came unstuck on the south coast, losing 2-0 at Worthing. Scott Tipper and Nick Sullivan struck in the second half to send the Stones home empty-handed.

Chatham Town dropped points for the first time this season but they remain top of Ryman League Division 1 North after drawing 1-1 with Grays Athletic.

Second-placed Grays went ahead through Joe Sweeney and looked to have wrapped up the points until Jack Pallen’s last-minute equaliser preserved the Chats’ unbeaten record.
