A second batch of T Level technical qualifications are set to be available to Kent students from this September.
T Levels are two year courses and equivalent to three A Levels - but also include work placements in a student's chosen field to help them gain real industry experience.
Three T Levels in design, surveying and planning for construction, education and childcare and digital production, design and development were introduced nationwide by the government for the very first time in September 2020.
Seven further qualifications, including many relating to construction fields, are set to be available from September 2021 in the second phase of the roll-out.
It is felt that T Levels open up even more opportunities to students across the country after they have taken their GCSEs.
Alongside 45-day work placements as part of the two year course, their academic work in school or college will also focus on preparing teens for employment in their chosen industry.
Canterbury College is amongst providers in Kent currently offering the new industry-backed qualifications.
The college, owned and run by the EKC Group, has T Level routes in Education and Childcare and Health and Science for students in East Kent, with a raft of information available on its website about the new courses.
According to the government website amongst the second wave of T Levels currently being readied for September 2021 will be qualifications in healthcare science, digital business services, onsite construction, digital support and services and healthcare science.
MidKent College in Medway and The Leigh UTC in Dartford are also both on the list of places in Kent welcoming students who wish to study T Levels.
Additional T Level courses in fields such as human resources, finance, hair and beauty, catering, craft and design, accounting and animal care and management are set for roll-out in both 2022 and 2023.
