Do you recognise this peacock?

This magnificent fellow shocked Sandling resident Margaret Sidwell when he appeared in her garden at the start of December.

Mrs Sidwell, who lives at Sandling Place, has tried to track down the owners of the bird without success and is now turning to the Kent Messenger for help.

She has phoned the police, the RSPCA, the RSPB and Leeds Castle, but no one has been able to shed any light on where the peacock has come from.

She said: “I am wondering if anybody locally has lost a peacock and would like to come and collect it.

“My neighbour spoke to the RSPB who said that it was probably a young bird who had been rejected from the flock and it was more than likely from a breeder in the area. They also said it would more than likely just fly away in about five to six weeks.”

If you can help reunite the bird with his owners, call the newsdesk on 01622 695666 or email messengernews@thekmgroup.co.uk
