Mystery over man's death

MEDICAL experts were unable to find the cause of death of a 42-year-old man who suffered a series of fits before he died in hospital.

An inquest into the death of Christopher Clarke heard he was an alcoholic and had been taking medication for depression.

The coroner, Roger Sykes, was told doctors were unable to say what caused his death on May 14. Mr Clarke, of Victoria Street, Rochester, may have seizured due to alcohol withdrawal or the drugs he was taking.

Pathologist Dr David Rouse said that although Mr Clarke had an enlarged heart, it did not contribute to his death.

The coroner recorded a verdict of natural causes.
