AN INVESTIGATION is underway to identify the body of a man found naked and face down on the beach near Dumpton Gap between Ramsgate and Broadstairs. The discovery was made

by a woman walking her dog.

The inshore lifeboat from Ramsgate recovered the body from the water as it was being carried out by the outgoing tide. A Thanet police spokeswoman said: “We are trying to establish his age and where he was from.”

A post mortem examination will be carried out today. The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held.
