Breathing new life into a special building

A building that survived bombings in the Second World War is being opened as a business centre today.

The Cambridge House Business Centre in Cambridge Terrace, Chatham, was bought by the 11 Plus Academy in December last year as its new home.

After realising its potential, the firm, which offers primary school tuition, decided to offer office space to other small and medium businesses in the area.

Tricia Matthewman, office manager, said: “The building is the last remaining from a row of terraces that was destroyed in the war, which leads us to claim it’s the luckiest building in Chatham.

“We would love to hear from readers who have pictures or stories of the building from the past, as we are sure there even more interesting stories to be told as we breathe new life into this building and a previously neglected area of Chatham town centre.”
