AN ABANDONED pig featured in the Kent Messenger is looking forward to a happy New Year in a new home.

The Kuni Kuni pig, named Percy, has been staying at the RSPCA animal centre in Castle Way, Leybourne, near West Malling, since he was found in a field in nearby Vigo Village earlier this month.

Staff at the centre believe Percy may have been hand-reared as a piglet and then dumped when he became too large. The RSPCA contacted the Kent Messenger asking for help in finding him a new home.

Such was Percy's appeal that the day after his story appeared in the newspaper offers of accommodation and money to pay for his upkeep flooded into the centre.

Now staff are looking at two possible homes and should have Percy settled somewhere new by the end of January.
