First and foremost on behalf of all the boys, thank you to all the fans who made the longest trip of the season to Carlisle on Saturday.

Unfortunately it was not a positive result after such a long trip. We were beaten in the end by two dead ball situations and the magic wand which is Ian Harte’s left foot.

You can tell why he has played at the highest level possible in World Cups and Champions Leagues. We were warned by the gaffer not to give too many free kicks away around our danger zone as he could make us pay and we were disappointed to have conceded one too many in the end.

He stepped up and whipped the ball into the top corner to leave us behind at the break. This came after we had started the game pretty well and had two great chances to take the lead.

The first fell to Jacko, who did everything except get the right angle on the finish, after beating the keeper. A few minutes later big Darren met a free-kick and hit the bar which Rene followed up with his head seemingly into an open goal but he couldn’t get over the ball and unfortunately sent it over the bar. So we went in behind at half time.

After a good talk from the gaffer we went out in the second half knowing what we had to do.

The first thing we needed to do was see out the first 15 minutes to get ourselves set and get back into the game. We didn’t manage to see out Carlisle’s pressure at the start of the second half as we conceded a penalty when their left winger went down in the box.

Once again Harte’s left foot gave AJ no chance whatsoever even though he went the right way from the penalty. After the second goal we were chasing the game and had a couple of opportunities to pull a goal back but it wasn’t to be and we faced the long trip home with no points to take back with us.

The journey home was a sombre one, as you would imagine.

Away journeys are always a mix of watching films, listening to music and generally trying to pass the time. Barch and I are always trying to out do each other in predicting film plots before they unravel, while Westy tries to conquer the football world on Champ Manager and Dennis sleeps. Everyone does different things to pass the journey by.

Saturday is now going to be a big test for us as we play a team with massive resources and a big squad with lots of talent who are flying high in the league.

We matched them for long periods at their place though and we are on our patch this time around, so we are looking forward to the test and will be going all out to get the right result.

Huddersfield had a disappointing result on Tuesday and will be looking to bounce back so we’ll have to be ready.

Whilst we know the threats which they carry, we know how we can hurt them too, so we believe there is no reason why we can’t turn them over and get a big three points. Be loud on Saturday.
