It seems like things are conspiring against us away from home.

Nightmare traffic on Tuesday night meant that we had to wait a while to name the team and had to wear Leyton Orient’s away kit (pictured).

We received no help from the referee, who insisted the game went ahead on time, when a 15-minute delay would not have been unreasonable.

But it is no excuse for the result as we didn’t start each half well enough and in those early minutes of each period we lost a game which was fairly even. We had plenty of chances to pull level and maybe even nick a win.

All of their goals were fantastic strikes from outside the box. On another day they may have flown wide rather than into our top or bottom corner.

After their opener, Westy got us straight back in it after a great follow up from Jacko’s effort.

That is eight goals for him now which is great return for a midfielder and hopefully there are many more to come.

We were all disappointed and frustrated after the game as it was a game we believed we could win. It wasn’t to be but we are all sure that the elusive away win is just around the corner.

Tuesday’s game followed on from a good win against a tough Burton side on Saturday who came down and gave us a tricky game. In the end we saw it through professionally to win 1-0.

The win put us in the all-important third round for the second year in a row. It’s a good achievement and we were all hoping for another big one in the draw, which we nearly got, as we were in the last four balls with Manchester United.

It wasn’t to be, though, and we now have a tough trip to either Barnet or Accrington and, as Burton showed, it won’t be easy.

It’s a chance though to make the hat for the next round.

We now face Carlisle on Saturday in a game which will be tricky as they will be full of confidence after some good results against some good sides.

We are strong at home and we’re confident we can keep our home form going.
