A PAEDOPHILE who set himself up as a babysitter so he could abuse children has been jailed for 15 years at Canterbury crown court.

Mark Tann, 29, of Highgate Road, Whitstable, admitted twice raping a four-year-old girl and indecently assaulting a nine-year-old.

But the scale of his obsession with children was revealed when police raided his home and discovered hundreds of images of child abuse taken from the internet and polaroid pictures of the children he was abusing.

Tann preyed on single mothers and advertised his babystting servicers in shop windows and on his own website on the internet.

Investigators discovered e-mail on his computer in which he gave advice to other paedophiles about grooming parents and children by acting as a babysitter.

Sentencing him, Judge Anthony Webb said: "You advanced yourself as a Christian childminder and registered babysitter. In reality you were a paedophile who gained tyhe trust of parents in order to abuse their children."
