An investigation has been launched into how a convicted paedophile from Dover was found hanging in his prison cell.

Barry Camwell, 30, was serving his sentence at Wandsworth Prison when he was found dead on Monday, March 1.

A Prison Service spokesman said staff tried to revive him, and an ambulance was called, but he was pronounced dead at 9.45am.

The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman is investigating the death.

In 2002 Camwell had raped a 14-year-old girl in broad daylight at Dover Priory Station after she joked with him and said something about fancying a "snog" with him. He was 23 at the time.
