Pensioner tackled chip pan fire

AN 83-YEAR-OLD man had to be taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a chip pan fire.

The blaze broke out on Saturday evening in Hawley.

The fire started in a chip pan but by the time firefighters arrived the man had managed to put the blaze out.

The kitchen suffered smoke damage

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “We advise that, if you cannot put out the flames yourself, then always call the fire brigade.”
