A MURDER-style investigation was continuing today after a 82-year-old pensioner was found dead in suspicious circumstances.

The body of Joan Isabelle Smyth was discovered at her flat in Wakeley Road at Rainham. Police believe she died late on Monday or early on Tuesday. A man has been arrested and was today still helping detectives with their inquiries.

Police are keen to establish the dead woman's movements on Monday from early morning through to the late evening.
