A devil-may-care mum has been caught holding a child without a helmet - as she rode a QUAD BIKE.

Police have now condemned the 21-year-old for putting the toddler's life in danger.

Horrified residents in Meadside Walk, Chatham, spotted the careless mum - who wasn't wearing a helmet either - zooming up and down their road on April 9.

Police were called and the mum was stopped with her two-year-old. She admitted driving the bike with a child on board.

Officers seized the bike because it didn't have insurance and issued a warning about her future conduct.

PC Paul Withrington said: "Residents were clearly concerned about a woman who was allegedly carrying a young child on a quad bike with no helmet.

"Once we had spoken to the woman concerned, given her a warning, and seized the bike, the residents were very satisfied with the outcome."

PCSO Mark Squires added: "Quad bikes can be very dangerous machines if not used correctly.

"These vehicles should always have insurance and be properly maintained.

"If anyone in Medway is seen to be driving these bikes in an anti-social or dangerous way, then we will not hesitate in taking it away from them."
