The two ornate wooden chairs were stolen from St Mary’s & All Saints Church in Boxley on April 12.

Bishop's chairs are usually left empty in churches and reserved for when the Bishop is in attendance.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Two men were seen loading the chairs into a silver hatchback at around 4.15pm after they were taken from the chancel and nave of the church.

"We believe they may be sold on to antique’s dealers and are asking them to check any chairs they are offered for sale."
