Police probe rail track tragedy

THE body of a young woman found on the railway line near Paddock Wood station has been identified as 29-year-old Joanne Swain who lived at Staplehurst.

Police believe she had been travelling home on the 10.37pm Canterbury West train from London Bridge station on Friday night. Her body was found dead on the tracks on Saturday morning and a post mortem examination was carried out on Sunday.

Ms Swain was white, 5ft 5ins tall and stocky. She was wearing a black roll-neck sweater, grey trousers and a black three quarter-length coat. She was carrying a bright blue handbag.

Anybody who was travelling on the same train or has any information about the death is asked to call the British Transport Police on 0207 391 5275.
