Police raid £65,000 cannabis factory

Police have seized more than 500 cannabis plants worth £65,000 from a house in Queenborough.

A man and a youth have been arrested after the cannabis factory was discovered, after a tip off from a member of the public, at the house in Gordon Avenue.

The plants were removed from the premises in the raid at 2pm yesterday (Wednesday).

A number of rooms in the house had been specially converted to grow the plants, and electricians were called in to secure the electrics.

A 33-year-old man and 15-year-old boy were arrested by police when they entered the house.

Sergeant Russ Phillips from Kent Police, who led today’s activity, said: “Thanks to a tip off from a member of the public, we have successfully closed down this cannabis factory.

“Today’s activity is part of an ongoing police effort to make the Isle of Sheppey safer."
