ONLY a few dozen parents turned up at Temple School, Strood, to voice their views and concerns about proposals to merge the school with Chapter to form a new academy.

More than 200 chairs were laid out for the meeting in the school hall on Thursday night but only 38 were taken.

The main worries raised by people at the meeting were losing two single sex schools in Strood and what happens to pupils taking their GCSEs and those choosing their GCSEs.

Questions were also raised about Chapter being the preferred site as well as the admissions process to the academy.

A full report on the meeting will appear in Monday’s Medway Messenger.

The next consultation meeting about the merger is at Cuxton Junior School on Monday at 7.30pm.
