Praise for 'advance warning' of petrol prices

THE RAC has given a thumbs-up to service station operators who publicise petrol prices on motorway service information signs.

At present, the advance advertising of petrol prices on the approach to motorway service stations is left to the discretion of the operator.

Backing a House of Commons motion, tabled recently, an RAC spokesperson said: "Publicising these figures is a real help for drivers deciding where to fill-up on long journeys."

MOTORISTS who are convicted of drink-driving during the Christmas and New Year period could find trouble getting car insurance when they get their licence back, warns the AA.

Those who do manage to get cover will end up paying hundreds of pounds extra in premiums, with the cost of some policies going up by more than 100 per cent.
