Police are hunting a driver said to have driven off after a crash with a pregnant woman on a pedestrian crossing.

The 20-year-old woman was crossing Queenborough Road in Minster at just after 5pm last night when the smash happened.

The driver, travelling from the Cowsted Corner direction, is alleged to have driven off towards Halfway.

The woman suffered brusing and swelling to her right knee, lower leg, and left wrist. She was treated, but the baby isn't thought to have been injured.

The car is said to be a new, bright red Ford Focus, with lights either side of the back windscreen.

Detective Chief Inspector of Swale Borough, Nick Gossett said: "This incident occurred in rush hour and therefore we are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this collision.

"In particular we would like to speak to the female driver of a silver Volvo saloon who is thought to have stopped at the traffic lights during this collision and may be able to help further."

Anyone with information is asked to contact 01795 419 182 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
