Princess Anne to revisit riding centre

THE Princess Royal will watch a riding and driving display when she visits Chartham, near Canterbury, on Wednesday. The Princess, who is patron of the Riding for the Disabled Association, is making a return visit to the association's Cobbes Meadow Group, in the grounds of the former St Augustine's Hospital.

In 1984 she opened the Chartham centre which, last month, bought the freehold of the site, securing its future. While at the centre, Princess Anne will also present long service certificates to the helpers of 25 years or more. The aims of the group include establishing confidence in disabled riders, who range in age from two to 83.

Later in the day Princess Anne will visit Stelling Minnis where she will open a development of six low cost homes in Brambleton Close, built by the Rural Housing Trust. The Princess, who is the trust's president, will speak at a housing seminar in the village and will also meet residents and have tea in the village hall.
