Residents evacuated

RESIDENTS had to be evacuated from their homes this afternoon after a fire broke out in a vacant house.

Two crews from Thames-side Fire Station and one from Swanscombe were called to the terraced property in Dover Road, Northfleet, at around 3pm.

Firefighters with breathing apparatus were sent into the burning building while others fought the fire from the outside.

An area of the road was cordoned off while Kent Police and Kent Fire and Rescue Service carried out investigations into the cause of the fire.

No one was injured.
