Robbers threaten victim with kitchen knives

A PONY-TAILED robber with no front teeth, and an accomplice, robbed a man who had just visited a cash point.

The 41-year-old victim says he was approached by the pair, one wearing Manchester United branded clothing.

They produced six inch kitchen knives and threatened that he would "not see Christmas" unless he handed over the £150 in his pocket.

They had watched him withdraw the money from the hole in the wall at Nationwide in Margate at 8.30am on Monday.

He then went to McDonalds for breakfast, but on leaving some 15 minutes later felt unwell.

He went to The Centre in the town to use the public toilets, and when he left the cubicle, was approached by the men.

They took the money and told him not to follow for 10 minutes or he would get hurt.

The victim was physically unhurt, but was left shaken by the experience.

The one wearing a dark Manchester United baseball cap and red Manchester United tracksuit has shoulder length hair worn in a ponytail. He had an unshaven round face, is around 5ft 7ins tall. He was stocky with a tanned skin and a northern accent.

The other robber is thought to be aged between 23 and 29. He was about 6ft tall, slim, clean shaven with glasses. He was wearing a black woolly hat, a coat with fur around the hood and blue jeans with a tear in the left knee.

Detectives are reviewing CCTV films and are appealing to anyone with any information to help them arrest the offenders.

Det Sgt Mark Dennis said: “The descriptions of these men are good and it will be clear to anyone who knows them who they are. We want to hear from them.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Sgt Dennis at Margate police station on 01843 231055.
