School academy plan to be discussed at council meeting

CONTROVERSIAL plans to replace two Medway schools with a government backed academy will be discussed at a meeting tomorrow night.

Medway Council’s Children’s Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee will debate plans to axe Temple and Chapter Schools, both based in Strood.

The proposals went out for public consultation between October and November 2007.

Campaigners at Chapter School have collected more than 10,000 signatures opposing the plans.
