Scooter rider killed in crash

A SCOOTER rider, thought to be in his 60s, was killed early today in a crash with a truck.

His 250cc machine hit a traffic island and was then in collision with an articulated tipper at Thames Road, Crayford, at about 5.50am. It is believed the victim lived in the Gravesend area.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: "Tragically the victim was found to be dead at the scene."

The rider, who had been travelling London-bound, was thought to have suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Queen Mary's Hospital mortuary in Sidcup.
