A 36-year-old school teacher could be facing a jail sentence after admitting sex charges involving two former pupils at a Kent school.

David Wootton pleaded guilty to sexual activity while in a position of trust with a girl, aged 16, on December 30, 2003 and abuse of trust, involving sexual activity with her, between May 31 and August 1 last year.

Wootton, of Boundary Road, Chatham, also admitted sexual activity with another girl, aged 15, on December 30, 2003, and perverting the course of justice by trying to persuade someone to give him an alibi between February 1 and March 1 last year.

Wootton, who was a head of year at the school in Chatham, was granted conditional bail until sentence on April 1, but Judge Andrew Patience, QC, warned that prison was likely.
