Conflict in Ukraine sparks banning of Russian vodka - here's where you can get Kent's very best alternatives

Pubs and supermarkets across the country have banned Russian vodka as a further sanction on the Kremlin during the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Although some have already stated they will be replacing spirits with Ukrainian or Polish brands, if you want to enjoy a local tipple there are plenty of vodkas on offer made right here in Kent.

Wild Spirits of Kent

This Kent-based brand has three different flavoured vodkas on offer, all distilled and fermented in the county.

Their quince vodka is "entwined with human history and used from remedies to the trophies of goddesses in Greek mythology".

The golden coloured spirit can be enjoyed as a warming liqueur in winter or with a mixer for a summertime blend.

It is vegan and gluten free and will set you back £24 for a 500ml bottle.

Wild Spirits of Kent also sell their blackberry and vodka and rhubarb vodka for the same price.

The blackberry and vodka is a deep plum colour and is advertised as "the joy of the British Autumn season".

Their rhubarb vodka is also available in a 50ml bottle for just £4.50 and 200ml bottle for £12.

This flavour is great with champagne or on it's own.

Wild Spirits of Kent also stress that rhubarb is rich in vitamins C and K and is becoming increasingly recognised as a super food.

Louise Newland and Gill Ford are the founders and said: "Every season we gather our bounty of fruits, berries and even leaves to turn into delicious liqueurs and flavoured spirits.

"As with all natural products there may be a small amount of sediment at the bottom.

"All the colour you see and the flavour you taste is naturally there from the plants used in the process.

"Hedgerow and cottage plants were traditionally preserved for their medicinal properties to last through winter by steeping them in alcohols.

" Later they were made more palatable and drunk not only for "medicinal purposes" but also for pleasure - we love replicating these old recipes."
