Severe delays at Dover port

Ferry services have returned to normal - after hours of delays as a result of a computer glitch.

Hundreds of families heading to France were held up after P&O's check-in system went down.

It has now been fixed and the long queue of cars has now cleared.

Milkman Dave Garrod was caught in the fallout from the delays.

He was not stuck in traffic because he knows all the back routes, but he said the town centre was gridlocked this morning, and traffic is queued right back to Samphire Hoe.

A spokesman for SeaFrance, which was affected by P&O's difficulties, said it was helping to clear the backlog.

"SeaFrance would like to assure its customers that it is doing everything possible to minimise any inconvenience this incident has caused."
