Around 2pm both hail and snow were seen in Maidstone High Street.

Less than 10 minutes later, the clouds had passed, revealing beautiful blue skies.

Meanwhile, in Westgate-on-Sea, the weather was described as 'thundersnow'.

A flurry of white flakes was also seen coming down in Canterbury.

A video captured at Canterbury College in New Dover Road shortly before 3pm shows a light shower, which fell for a couple of minutes prompting passers-by to dash for cover.

While there is no mention of snow on the Met Office's forecast for Canterbury, BBC Weather predicts light snow could fall in the area until about 4pm.

It is thought to be the first snow the city has seen this year.

It comes after a series of storms battered Kent and large swathes of England earlier this week.
