Police are hunting two robbers following an attack on security staff at the Nationwide building society in New Romney High Street.

According to police, a security guard was injured with what's believed to have been a crowbar.

He was taken to the William Harvey Hospital after the offenders attacked staff who were replenishing a cash machine at 11.29pm yesterday.

The offenders, who stole cash, ran off down the alleyway, at the side of the bank, leading to a car park.

It is thought that they drove off in vehicle that was parked in the Mountfield industrial estate.

One person has been arrested in Dartford in connection with the incident and remains in custody.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01303 289180.
